    As part of our ongoing expansion, we are recruiting a talented and committed IT developer to support the build of the computing infrastructure underpinning our cutting-edge laboratory and scientific computing systems. This position is focused on (but not limited to) developing strategies for genomic data handling, metadata structuring and integration of various IT components through the LIMS and developing back-end system for automated report generation. It represents an ideal opportunity for a genomic-oriented software systems developer to join the team of an exciting and game-changing biotechnology company headquartered in Singapore and expanding globally.

    Experience with coding (Python/R), LIMS, SQL, Linux, together with previous exposure to sequencing data environment is essential, as is the ability to work within team setting with a diverse group of scientific, business development and corporate colleagues. Well-developed written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work within the often-dynamic environment of a biotech.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and implement strategies for genomic data and metadata organization and storage,
    • Supervise database design and its integration with genomic pipelines, LIMS system and mobile-app,
    • Develop back-end for automated report generation from processed metagenomic data,
    • Develop front-end for database data entry and curation,
    • Implement LIMS system integrating consumer management system and sequencing facility

    Requirements:

    • Proficient in Python/R, PHP, JavaScript, Linux, CSS, HTML,
    • Experience in cloud environment (AWS), HPC, containerized workflows (using Nextflow, Snakemake, Docker) is a plus
    • Proficient in SQL database design and maintenance, experience in no-SQL is a plus,
    • Experience in handling genomic data and metadata, structuring and manipulation, collaboration with sequencing facility,
    • Experience in LIMS implementation and usage,
    • General background in sequencing technology, genetics, life-sciences,

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage a team of highly qualified individuals and complex processes
    • Create superior organizational results
    • Facilitate and implement new protocols to set up new NGS workflows, in addition to protocol optimization and documentation,
    • Set up automated workflow and data analysis,
    • Work with LIMS engineers and bioinformaticians to establish and/or improve the workflows in the LIMS system,
    • Receiving and process biological samples for NGS applications,
    • Laboratory management – organization and supply management
    • Setting-up of sequencing runs and operation of the latest state-of-the-art sequencing instruments
    • Troubleshooting and correction of suboptimal results under the guidance of scientific staff
    • General laboratory and instrument maintenance
    • Training of new scientific staff,
    • Engage with third-party vendors to evaluate, negotiate, and implement new workflow solutions,
    • Communicate with scientific leadership team
    • Communicate project updates to BluMaiden’s executive leadership
    • Train, mentor, and develop SOP for research scientists and company leadership
    • Be accountable for achieving project milestones and timelines

    Requirements:

    • Experience in managing diverse specialist teams
    • Degree in life sciences or computing related field
    • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with molecular biological methods such as handling nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), enzymatic manipulation of nucleic acids, PCR and qPCR required
    • Hands-on experience with library preparation and/or operation of next-generation sequencing platforms would be an advantage
    • Experience with nucleic acid QC instruments
    • Experience with LIMS systems is an advantage
    • Ability to work effectively in a team; willingness and ability to work in a rapidly changing start-up environment
